Feb. 17, 2010 Meeting: Pizza and 2 short films with Academy Award nominated filmmaker Hanna Polak

The February 2010 Hawaii FCPUG meeting will be on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 17, 6:30 – 9 pm. Because we’re expecting a large turnout for this event, YOU MUST RSVP FOR THIS MEETING!

Our February 2010 meeting starts off with FREE PIZZA at 6:30 (courtesy of the awesome folks at DigiEffects, makers of some of the coolest FCP and After Effects plugins on the planet!). We’ll follow that with screenings of 2 short films by Filmmaker Hanna Polak, who will be there to tell the amazing story of her life leading up to becoming a cinematographer and filmmaker whose film, The Children of Leningradsky, was nominated for both an Academy Award and two Emmy Awards.

This documentary takes an intimate and heart-breaking look at a group of homeless children living in and around a Moscow train station. Hanna Polak together with Andrzej Celinski captured numerous intimate and heartbreaking scenes in this raw, verite documentary, which combines footage of the children and Moscow authorities with alarming statistics about homelessness and its devastating effects in post-Soviet Russia.
